The Incredible Hulk: Red Alert Page 12

The Hulk (you remember him, the guy who this comic is supposed to be about, right?) will be returning soon, I promise.

This page is another homage, this time to Mike Vosburg and Chic Stone, who provided this image on page one of issue 3 of The Savage She Hulk. This is my earliest encounter with Shulkie in print form, and because the 1982 Hulk cartoon is where my eariest memory of the character as a whole springs from, I couldn't resist a tribute. It really blew my mind when I first saw it in the back of an old 'Doctor Who Weekly' from the early eighties that was advertising a new Spider Man and Hulk comic with She-Hulk as one of the back-up strips. It's one of my favourite pictures of She-Hulk from that era, summing up perfectly the powerful, savage nature of the character but also making her look incredibly sexy. It's got that kind of pulpy B-movie vibe and I love it-- I've struggled my whole life to come up with something that good and I don't think I've even come close. But we persevere, don't we....
